As a native of Nashville, Carson Priest’s commuting soundtrack would most certainly include “I’ve Been Everywhere” by fellow Tennesseean Johnny Cash. And Carson really has been everywhere. He graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor’s in political science and went on to complete his Master’s in public administration from American University in Washington D.C. While there, Carson enjoyed his daily multimodal commute – walking to the rail station to get to his destination. “The health benefits of walking multiple miles per day mixed with the convenience of a train system is really what made me fall in love with optimizing commutes.” Carson comes to Smart Commute with both political and policy experience through his work on political campaigns, including the 2018 Proposition 110 legislative effort to increase funding for Colorado’s transportation system. Carson has carried his passion for effective and forward-thinking transportation policy solutions with him to the Denver metro north area where his favorite view of the Front Range is from the N Line Commuter Rail to Denver Union Station. For Carson, the power of commuting differently is the removal of traffic-related stress from his routine. He lives in Golden and enjoys pursuing all things outdoors with his wife.
