Catherine Sanders
Deputy Executive Director
Catherine joined Smart Commute full time in 2016, and now works in a part-time capacity. Catherine grew up locally in Thornton, Colorado, and has received degrees from Louisiana State University and the University of Michigan (MURP). The first song on her commuting soundtrack would be “A Car Ride in Idealistic Ethiopia” by American experimental band Estradsphere, which incidentally covers a lot of instrumental ground. Through her previous work with Commuting Solutions, the Denver Regional Council of Governments and now with Smart Commute, Catherine has discovered that commuting differently has influenced her to be a bit competitive in her commuting choices. “I want to see a benefit over driving, either in speed, health or environment.” Catherine is a Transportation Demand Management Certified Professional (TDM-CP) and has her Social Marketing in Transportation Certificate (CUTR). Her favorite Denver North landmark is what she calls, “Pig Park,” located on a secluded and bikeable side of Woodglen Park with a small playground, lots of trees and a life-size bronze pig statue. Catherine and her husband live in Northglenn and have four children. While it’s a tough choice, her favorite mode of commuting is her school-based carpool, which saves her sanity as a mom.
